ChemoCompanion
Designing a chatbot for febrile neutropenia guidance

I investigated delayed recognition of febrile neutropenia in children undergoing chemotherapy, focusing on the information available to parents and caregivers.
The project considered how gaps in caregiver education affect recognition of symptoms and decisions about seeking medical attention.
I developed ChemoCompanion, a functional chatbot prototype covering more than ten intents related to febrile neutropenia. The chatbot used predefined clinical scenarios and evidence-informed responses to provide structured guidance on recognising symptoms and understanding when medical assessment was necessary.
The prototype demonstrated the proposed information structure, but was not validated with caregiver usability testing.
